notes

Not a good photo day today. First, I was scanning in a photo when a noticed some dirt and a big, fat fingerprint embedded in the negative. Props to my photo lab for that one. Then my batteries died in my camera as I was shooting with only 3 frames left on a roll of film. Luckily I found one of those grey-market electronics stores downtown still open at 10 PM, bought a fresh set of batteries, but no luck. The screen on my Nikon F80 kept flashing "ERR". Brilliant.

About the post: it's the entrance to the Necropolis in Riverdale. The colour wasn't working for me, but a doom-and-gloom bluish tritone does. And the scan is really poor -- check out the compressed highlights in the middle -- but after today I don't feel like rescanning. Maybe tomorrow.

UPDATE: It looks like rescanning does nothing for this picture, it's just overexposed. The better news is that my camera is working again. It took a little while but it looks like the shutter was locked. A few prods at the shutter release did the trick.

Love the lines and nice composition. There are many reasons for the ERR message. I hope its the simplest one i.e when the aperature ring is not locked at the minimum aperature :)

say something nice
