Food photography is an artform in itself, normally using more lights than a rock concert and very careful positioning. I grabbed this picture of this salad (yum!) using natural light from a side window and I'm fairly happy with the result. I didn't feel like waiting around much longer to dive in.

This is beautiful....I've been wanting to get into a little food photography (thinking of redecorating my kitchen) and this image is certainly inspiring. I took a gander around your site, and you have some really great work here. I'm a fellow film photographer--always good to see us around ;) I'll definitely be back again.......Happy Shooting!
